You'll be playing as Jackie Estacado, a guy with a tentacle-like demonic power called "The Darkness".
His mission in this game is to uncover the truth behind The Darkness and also to eliminate his step father,
Paulie, who is also a mafia and wanted to assasinate Jackie, due to Jackie's disagreement on how Paulie
does his work. Throughout the game, you'll experience a
COOL storyline about The Darkness, and also about
Jackie himself.
For a 7th-gen console, first-person shooter is the genre where you can feel like you are in the game, due to
the capability of 7th-gen console, high quality graphics, realistic atmosphere and top-notch sound effects
can be made possible. But, is "The Darkness" the game you should try? Keep on reading to find out (?-?)
The Storyline is the stronghold of this game. It is sooo well done that you'll just want to keep playing the
game. The storyline also features the "from zero to hero" and also "You're the only one who can do it" type of main character,
like most action game.
For a first-person shooter, it's quite rare to see a game with the main character controlling his/her
power, a demon with tentacles, grabs heart right from the victim's body, stab people with it's tentacle,...urgh.
Well, this game has it all, and it's nicely done too, no confusing controls and it won't block the player's view.
The game starts with the main character, Jackie Estacado, sitting at the back of a car and drunk, on his 21st birthday. One of his friends is driving the car
while the other one is sitting and talks alot. Later then, cops starting to chase Jackie due to his friend's sick way of driving,
and end up in car crash. With both his friend died, he managed to get out from the chase and later on he heard strange, creepy voice of The Darkness, a tentacle-like demon which will then merge with Jackie, making Jackie a human with demonic power.
Then you'll be introduced to his step father, Paulie, who is also the main antagonist in this game.
Later in the game, you'll learn more about The Darkness, Jackie's past and his girlfriend, Jenny.
Like normal first-person shooter games, your mission is to kill or get killed. But in this game, you won't just kill with guns, rifles, etc.
You can also use your demon power to kill, which is a unique feature for a first-person shooter game. There will be more than 1 type of
attacks that you can use against the bad guys. Not just for killing, some puzzles also requires the help from the demon's power.
The graphics is this game's charmer. You'll be charmed by the detailed texture, sweet lighting, wonderfully designed levels,
the realistic movement of The Darkness, and the first-person camera angle during cutscenes, which gives out realistic feeling
on what's happening to the character.
The only thing bad about this game is the character's lip movement, which sometimes look like he's chewing something, but actually
he's saying something. And of course, there's a slight glitches throughout the game, but it's not a big deal.
This game is one of the best game you should own! For those who loves good graphic + good storyline video game, then this game is the one.
To me, it is an enjoyable game and I even played the game 3 times already, lol ! You can watch the gameplay video before deciding to try it or not.
